Welcome to my week 3 blog! A small step away from last weeks #9 movie, my #8 movie comes from the same director. So here we go, and I hope you enjoy!

Movie #8

Kingdom of Heaven

Kingdom of Heaven enter's my #8 spot. This wonderful film is another one directed by Ridley Scott. It is the time of the Crusades during the Middle Ages - the world shaping 200-year collision between Europe and the East. A blacksmith named Balian has lost his family and nearly his faith. The religious wars raging in the far-off Holy Land seem remote to him, yet he is pulled into that immense drama. Amid the pageantry and intrigues of medieval Jerusalem he falls in love, grows into a leader, and ultimately uses all his courage and skill to defend the city against staggering odds.

This made it to my #8 spot not only because of the epic battle scenes, but also because of the heart warming story that is underneath as well. To go from the depressing beginning of the movie and end up feeling happy and overly satisfied with the conclusion of the film. You almost feel like you can relate to some of the struggles Balian faces during the movie, whether it's his faith staggering, a moral question of whether or not to fight, or even whether or not to love the woman that is out of reach. I garauntee you that by the end of the movie you will be touched in a way that few other movies can touch you. I hope that you enjoy this film as much as I did. Oh, and one more thing, get the director's cut version if at all possible, it's about an hour longer but fills in a little bit more of the backstory than the regular version.

Well here we are entering week 2, and so I give off my #9 favorite movie. Hope you enjoyed my previous post. I will continue to update each week till I get to #1, as well as include some work that I need to for my composition class. :)

Movie #9

A Good Year

A Good Year enter's my #9 spot. Now for anyone here that has seen and been a fan of Ridley Scott's work, this is a bit of a change from his style. Instead of being some action or suspense movie, this is a drama and comedy. Now I usually start off with talking about the synopsis of what the movie is, but I want to start by saying, anyone who I have ever recomended this movie to has had a fantastic day. This movie is one of the most heart warming, feel good, life is not as bad as it seems, type movies.

A Good Year is about a very successful banker named Max Skinner, played by Russell Crowe, who learns of his uncle's death. As a boy Max spent a lot of time on the vineyard that his uncle owned, which he has now inherited. Max goes to France with intent on selling the property. He spends a few days there, getting the property ready to show. Memories, a beautful woman, and a young American who says she's his uncle's illegitimate daughter interrupt his plans. Soon Max finds himself with a whole new decision to make.

That's about all i can really say without spoiling the wonderful story that follows. There are a lot of drama's and love stories now days, but none of them have touched me as much as this film did. If you're ever down, or just looking to have a great time, you can't go wrong with this movie. It helped me realize there's always more to life than you originally may think. I hope you enjoy it. :)

Welcome everyone to my blog! I needed to create this blog for my college composition class. Each week on top of the assigned work for the blog I will be doing a list of my top 10 favorite movies of all time. I will be posting one new movie a week and explaining why it's in my top 10, so I hope you all enjoy it. :)

Movie #10

The Big Lebowski

The Big Lebowski comes in at my #10 spot. For anyone here that has seen any Coen Brother movies you already know why this made it. The Coen's have directed other fine movies such as; Fargo, No Country for Old men, and O Brother, Where Art Thou? The movie as about Jeffrey "The Dude" Lebowski being mistaken for a millionaire whos name is also Lebowski. The Dude then becomes entangled in a plot where he goes to visit the actual Lebowski for compensation on a destroyed rug, when he is suddenly recruited to be a liason between Lebowski and the captors of his wife.

At first this may sound confusing or not too funny, but in reality this is a very funny and easy to follow movie. The "Dude" is played by Jeff Bridges and his partner in crime is played by none other than the great John Goodman. There are many famous quotes from this movie as well as an annual festival devoted to the film.

This film alone is why my favorite drink is now the white russian, the Dude's favorite drink, and is also what made me fall in love with the Coen Brothers films. The mix of humor with a serious story and some violent matter is a masterpiece to behold. I'd definetely recommend seeing this if you have enjoyed past movies like Fargo.
